Alamo Plaza
Photo crop exposure date: unknown. Exposure date (or window) of subject photo: 1881-1883 Subject: Slightly less clear photo crop of Gallagher building (1877). US Post Office on first floor. View ESE from across the Blum and Alamo intersection. No streetcar rails (service begins 1878) can be detected in the photograph and the Sanborn maps indicate that the buildings just south have awnings which are not present in the photograph. The pole light at the front door is almost certainly one of the installations of the San Antonio Electric Company (Chartered 9 February 1881). By 4 April 1883 there are 17 lights on the plaza. Therefore, the subject photograph is dated at that time.
